Full-Time Librarian, North Bergen Free Public Library (North Bergen, NJ)


The North Bergen Free Public Library is looking for a full-time librarian to work in multiple departments.  North Bergen is a diverse and active community of more than 60,000 residents from all walks of life.  The library is a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on programming.  There is room for growth within the position and we encourage creative thinking.

Duties:

-Work with the public at the adult and youth services desks answering reference questions, providing reader's advisory, placing holds and locating items, promoting library collections and programs, participating in outreach efforts, and assisting with library technology.
-Work independently and efficiently on projects as assigned.  Constantly on the lookout for opportunities and projects to make the library better. 
-Develop and run both adult and children's programming.  Creativity is greatly encouraged!
-Supervise staff as needed to maintain smooth operation of library.

Requirements:

-MLS degree required.  Willing to interview current MLS students who have completed more than half of their degree requirements.
-Must be open to working in either of our two branches
-Preferred bilingual Spanish or Arabic
-35 hours per week; two nights per week; two Saturdays per month.
-Minimum starting salary is $51,000 for MLS graduates, and will scale, commensurate with experience. Full benefits include medical, dental, vision, and generous paid time-off package.
