Music Specialist, NBC Universal – NJ

NBC Universal is seeking a Music Specialist, to provide creative music and sound search services to NBC producers and editors by searching through vast databases of music available to productions.  The position is located in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.
Searches must be creatively appropriate, matching the production’s desired mood and style, while working within the guidelines of the production’s budget.
• Collaborate in program production by providing appropriate tracks for specific programs.
• Classify and catalog original scores of music produced for NBC Universal productions.
• Provide cost-effective music solutions to producers in an increasingly multi-platform environment.
• Assist in management and distribution of digital and hard copy library materials.
• Provide training to patrons on how to use the Music Library and its services.
Basic Qualifications:
• Must have at least five years’ editorial experience working in production at the network level, preferably with evening television.
• Bachelor’s Degree • 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Music supervision for film or television projects, music/score classification, working in a music library environment
• Broad knowledge of music genres, performers and artists (from classical to pop, and everything in between).
• Excellent computer skills are essential, including knowledge and expertise in handling digital music.
• Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to work in a fast paced environment under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), NewsConnect, iTunes.

• Desired Characteristics
• Prefer candidates with experience working with SoundMiner software.
• Working knowledge of Production Music Libraries
• Basic understanding of how music copyright and licensing works
