TITLE OF POSITION/RANK:  Adjunct Librarian

DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:  Library

RESPONSIBILITIES:   The Adjunct Librarian will participate in a very active, robust library information literacy program, planning and teaching library information literacy classes on the main campus, at the college’s extension sites and virtually.  S/he will provide traditional and virtual reference services.  S/he will also assist in the evening and weekend supervision of Library Clerks and Library Technicians as well as assist in the evening and weekend supervision of library building and services, as needed.  10 -15 hours per week, days, evenings and weekends required.

QUALIFICATIONS:  A minimum of a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited degree-granting program and one year of experience working as an academic librarian or senior librarian in a middle-size to large public library setting is required.  Two years of academic library experience are strongly preferred.  Knowledge of information and instructional technologies.  The incumbent must have the ability to collaborate and communicate with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community users.  Additional subject masters and supervisory experience preferred.  Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required.

POSITION EFFECTIVE:  The position will remain open until filled.

RATE OF PAY:  $39.85 per hour.  No benefits.

Consultancy Assignment: Digital Asset Manager

Purpose:


UNICEF, the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks a consultant to manage UNICEF’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform, which houses UNICEF photography, video, brand, publication, as well as other high resolution assets from UNICEF HQ Divisions and other UNICEF offices. The purpose is to identify methods to organize and manage the entire digital asset life cycle from production to distribution and archiving via UNICEF’s DAM platform (see: WeShare.unicef.org) , while synchronizing with the needs of UNICEF’s Content Management System.

Minimum requirements and competencies:
• 5+ years of experience managing DAM platforms;
• Higher education degree in Information Science or related field;
• Demonstrable experience with large DAM systems, including technical expertise;
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in coordinating multimedia DAM systems including web, database, API, taxonomy and related components;
• Experience organising and maintaining non-book libraries and special archives online;
• Knowledge of information management and cataloguing standards;

• Evidence of strong communication skills with team members;
• Experience in directing teams who deliver technical training and technical customer support;

Substitute Circulation/Reserves Librarian

The Borough of Manhattan Community College Library seeks a creative, detail oriented, student-centered Circulation Librarian. The candidate will provide leadership and supervision for the Library's Circulation unit.

Responsibilities will include supervising a team of  support staff and college assistants, managing and improving the unit's scheduling and workflow, assisting library users with circulation challenges, overseeing a busy Reserves Collection, and ensuring high levels of service.  Other responsibilities include supervising the Aleph Library system, CUNY First and other duties as assigned by the department chair. Candidate will act as liaison to CUNY Office of Library Services. 
As a member of the Library team, candidate will also participate in the Library's instruction programs, serve at the Reference desk, and contribute to collection development as a departmental liaison.

ALA accredited MLS degree required for appointment as an Instructor.  ALA accredited MLS degree plus second master's degree or doctorate required for an appointment as an Assistant Professor.  Candidate should have at least 2 years of working experience in Circulation.

The Head of Technical Services is responsible for managing the Library’s database licensing, 
resource allocation, acquisitions, cataloging, and materials processing units.  The candidate is 
tasked with stewarding the annual resource budget, arranging for database licenses, vendor 
 relations, and working closely with the Budget, Accounts Payable, and Procurement Offices. 

Further, the Head of Technical Services oversees licensing of additional electronic content 
(electronic journals and eBooks), standing orders, monographs – with related cataloging and 
processing.  The individual keeps current with developments in the resource management 
arena, develops workflows and policies, and integrates new technologies to streamline 
efficient processing.  This position supervises the Periodicals Librarian, Electronic Information

QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.  
Second Master’s required for appointment to Assistant Professor.  Candidate should possess 
superlative financial and data management acumen, knowledge of original and copy 
cataloging (OCLC, MARC, RDA), familiarity with online metadata and integrated library 
systems, as well as interest and expertise in adapting emerging technologies.  Excellent
