Job Description

The ANA seeks to hire a seasoned Researcher to provide ANA members with the marketing information and insights they need to make better decisions, faster. The ANA provides leadership that promotes marketing excellence and shapes the future of the industry.  The ANA membership includes more than 600 companies with 10,000 brands that collectively spend over $250 billion in marketing and advertising.


This position which works within the Marketing Knowledge Center (MKC), will be at the center of our growing research & insights program. The Researcher will provide ANA members (marketing professionals) with comprehensive, specialized research on advertising, media and marketing topics of varying complexity. This position will allow a qualified candidate to be a part of a unique, personalized research service that consistently earns top ratings from members for helping them to become more knowledgeable marketers.



Primary Responsibilities
 

·      Provide authoritative and high-quality research using ANA proprietary and industry resources, supplementing these sources at times with ANA member or industry expert perspective. The deliverable will be customized to the member’s preference (a short report of 1-3 readings, a synthesis of findings that includes top-line summaries with links to additional readings, or a PowerPoint slide deck report).


·      At the beginning of each request, speak with ANA members about their information needs and marketing challenges, and set expectations for the scope and timing of their research deliverable.


·      Ensure research requests meet best-in-class standards while staying informed of current trending topics, new developments in media, and industry resources.


·      Provide other Research Service users (ANA staff, non-members) with research assistance, as needed.

  • Track and analyze research service requests performed, to identify trends in member information needs and marketing subject gap areas.



·      Organize and maintain internal information request database and monitor status of database usability, intuitiveness and functionality.


·      Perform other duties as may be determined by the Director of Research.


Qualifications

Desired skills and experience:


·       3-5 years of experience providing research service in a business setting.

·       MLIS or equivalent business research skills and experience.

·       Job experience in the field of marketing and advertising is a plus.

·       Ability to synthesize research findings and succinctly summarize key relevant information.

·       Proven time management skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests from initiation through completion.

·       Excellent client focus, ability to communicate personably and clearly with clients, and to manage their expectations.

·       Ability to multitask in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

·       Strong verbal and writing skills.

·       Demonstrated strong project management, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills.

·       Experience in administrating databases a huge plus.
