Structured Content Semantic Technologist


IBM Studio is looking for a semantic technologist to join the structured content team located in New York, NY. The team works on structured content strategy innovation for the Marketing & Communication practice, in collaboration with CIO. The goal is to help marketers optimize the value of digital content through semantic technology in order to improve digital marketing performance.

The Semantic Technologist will play a key role in design and development of ontology using semantic web technologies. This individual will have a role in building roadmaps for future landscapes and growth of services related to structured content.

Key responsibilities:
  • Engage business owners of data standards and communities of interest to develop ontologies to manage business concepts for marketing content
  • Develop and manage the knowledge base where concepts, their properties and semantic links reside, as well as support taxonomy consuming systems and services
  • Provide expert advice in the implementation of applications using ontologies
  • Provide thought leadership on using Semantic Web technologies to bridge data gaps by participating in governance groups and communities across the organization

    This role requires proven analytic skills and the ability to extract knowledge from structured, semi-structured, and unstructured content sources; deep knowledge in semantic web technologies; as well as hands-on experience in applying semantic web technologies to knowledge management, especially in the area of taxonomy management, ontology modeling and metadata description.

    Master's degree in a related discipline (Library Information Sciences, Management Information Systems), and familiarity with W3C semantic web standards (RDF, OWL, SKOS, SPARQL, RIF, etc.) is preferred.

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • At least 3 years experience in developing insights from analysis
    • At least 3 years experience in applying digital tools, techniques & guidelines
    • At least 3 years experience in applying an understanding of digital content
    • At least 3 years experience in applying core Metrics to Business Performance
    • At least 3 years experience in using digital technologies to enable dialogue
    • Readiness to travel 10% travel annually
    • English: Fluent
    Preferred
    • Master's Degree in Information Technology
