Adjunct Reference Librarian, NYU (NY)

The NYU Division of Libraries seeks an adjunct reference librarian to provide part-time reference service for its Bern Dibner Library at the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering located in Brooklyn, NY.  This librarian provides in-person reference consultation services and monitors online reference services via LibraryH3lp and QuestionPoint. The adjunct reference librarian may also collaborate on special projects in the Dibner Library as needed.  Weekday afternoon, Saturday, and Sunday hours are available. This position is available for the fall semester, September 2014 through December 2014. The individual in this position reports to the Assistant Director for Library Operations at the Bern Dibner Library.
Qualifications:
  • ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent.
  • Public service experience in an academic library, including reference, instruction, or collection development or relevant course work.
  • Demonstrated public service orientation and knowledge of user needs for teaching, learning, and research.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative, service-oriented approach to problem solving.


Preferred:
  • Experience providing public service in a science/engineering library.
  • Academic background in science/engineering.
