Director of Health Sciences Library, NY Medical College
New York Medical College seeks a dynamic Director of the Health Sciences Library (Lillian Hetrick Huber Directorship) The ideal candidate needs to be qualified for appointment to both a faculty and an administrative position.
Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited American Library Association Program is required. An additional graduate degree in management or health sciences is highly desirable. Must have progressive and accomplished experience in library/administrative leadership roles that include significant responsibilities for budgetary oversight and resource planning. At least 5 years management experience in a medical library which must include evidence of successful supervisory, planning and budgeting experience in upper level management positions. Knowledge of library operations including managing electronic resources, collection development and document delivery as well as knowledge and skills in evaluating, implementing and making accessible new knowledge-based technologies is essential. Experience with space planning, system analysis and library automation required. Superior communication skills (verbal,written, interpersonal) essential. Candidate should be a motivated, innovative, creative individual with demonstrated strength in successfully managing a diverse staff.
