Development Assistant for Information Management and Research, The Brearley School – NY

Reporting to Brearley School development leadership, the Development Assistant for Information Management and Research is responsible for maintaining data and providing accurate constituent information to support fundraising and engagement strategies.

Key Responsibilities include:

Information Management:
  • Maintain Brearley’s development database of approximately 18,000 alumnae, parents and other constituents using Raiser’s Edge software.
  • Proactively aggregate incoming information from multiple sources and ensure records are accurately and regularly updated, including adding new constituents, updating biographical information, noting event attendance and inputting gifts and pledges.
  • Manage and implement gift receipt and acknowledgement process.
  • Provide accurate reports and data files to meet both internal and external information needs, including gift documentation for auditors.
Research:
  • Expand development research capacity in preparation for upcoming capital campaign.
  • Conduct financial and biographical research using online search tools and public documents.  Analyze and synthesize relevant information from multiple sources and provide concise donor prospect profiles including estimated giving capacity.
Position Details:
  • Work closely with development leadership to produce and assess information that can inform decision-making and advance fundraising.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to assess donor capacity across constituents and build prospect management systems.
  • Respond to inquiries from the Head of School and Trustees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience, preferably in advancement services or a related field such as library science or business information.
  • Solid experience and proficiency with database management.  Strongly prefer substantive knowledge of Raiser’s Edge.
  • Familiarity with internet research strategies and experience using online search tools.
  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the flexibility to respond to changing priorities.
  • Team player with a proactive approach and a positive outlook.
