Dow Jones Princeton office is hiring the Senior Metadata Manager. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive metadata and taxonomy strategy for use in managing Dow Jones’s digital assets. The Senior Manager, Metadata is a member of the Content team within the Data Strategy group. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive metadata and taxonomy strategy for use in managing Dow Jones’s digital assets.

The Manager will need to understand end-user research as it relates to defining categorization and its impact on the overall search experience in order to strategize and execute a metadata vision. He/she also will be responsible for understanding the competitive landscape and industry from a macro level as it applies to developing global, enterprise level, high quality taxonomies.

The Manager will develop and validate existing and new taxonomies and other categorization schemes. He/she will execute and drive continuous improvement in product taxonomy and partner with Technology groups to develop the tools to deliver it.

The Manager will oversee the following functions and teams:

◦Metadata Management (with team members in the U.K. and Spain): Responsible for maintaining and expanding the Dow Jones Intelligent Indexing ™ taxonomy and for developing new types of metadata including authority files.

◦Content Quality (with team members in the U.K. and Spain): Responsible for managing and carrying out the coding quality program which evaluates coding accuracy, identifies areas of improvement, and reports on progress.

◦Metadata Development (with team members in the U.S): Oversees special projects and implements strategies for the use of structured data, data formats and Dow Jones Intelligent Indexing (DJII) throughout Dow Jones.

The Manager will prioritize resources to carry out essential functions and special projects. In addition, he/she will define and communicate the team’s purpose and future direction, ensuring alignment with Dow Jones’s vision and values.
