Description:
Helps to develop, evaluate, implement and manage the A+E taxonomy strategies and approach with strong consideration to navigation systems and search mechanisms for enterprise media assets and associated metadata. Lead compliance to the overall taxonomy and metadata strategy & policies within Media Asset Services (MAS). Maintain governance models, procedures and policies for the taxonomy within MAS and supports governance throughout the enterprise


Required Experience:
Major Activities
Assist in developing, evaluation, implementation and management of taxonomy strategy and approach with strong consideration to navigation systems and search mechanisms. Act as primary participant, facilitator and driver within the Taxonomy Task Force to design and ensure agreement on metadata schema, taxonomies and controlled vocabulary, security profiles and user access rights.

Maintain governance models, procedures and policies for the taxonomy within MAS and support governance throughout the enterprise. Ensure appropriate metadata for assets is being correctly assigned and if necessary, bring into compliance in a timely manner.
Develop and maintain an internal dictionary/thesaurus to standardize product information. Maintain the UID/Asset Registry tool for minimum metadata search, UID generation for the company.
Coordinate agreement across user groups and legal department to ensure best practice is implemented to assure accurate rights information against assets is recorded.
Help to provide training, initial technical support and act as an escalation point for all MAM system issues. Coordinate and manage all planned enhancements and work with user groups to establish priorities and commitment to planned change.
Implement and manage quality of online search results to meet customer, vendor and partner demand for media fulfillment requests. Review key performance indicators for A+E’s digital assets to improve business decision making. Analyze data to optimize the product or content taxonomy for the customer. Conduct content audits with clients. Generate appropriate taxonomy / metadata reports.

Required Education:
- Master of Library Sciences (MILS) (MLS) or related degree

- Understanding of databases and knowledge of data modeling techniques and technology
- Knowledge of metadata standards: MARC, Dublin core, EAD, MODS, METS, VRA, TEI, PREMIS, Prism, IPTCcore and extension
- Knowledge of XML formats
- Skilled at MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and MS Access)
- Must be highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic; able to work on their own initiative with the ability to meet strict deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; attention to detail
- Understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques and technology
- It would be highly preferred if candidates had a minimum of 3 yrs experience in managing product and content taxonomies, within the entertainment industry.
