P/T (temporary) - Library Assistant - NBC

NBC INFOCENTER
TEMPORARY PART-TIME POSITION AVAILABLE-NYC

We are looking for a temporary part-time library assistant to support the InfoCenter. Our team provides research services to the NBC News division (Today, Dateline, Nightly News, the NBC Net Desk, MSNBC, and more).

Responsibilities include processing and cataloging incoming materials, shelving books and periodicals, indexing of archival files, and scanning headlines and articles for on-air use, as well as various specialized projects. Other possible opportunities include adding online reference sources to our intranet subject guides and assisting with news research.

Educational Requirements: completion of at least one information organization /cataloging course, an online searching course, and currently matriculating in (or recent completion of) an MLS program.

Skills/Experience Required: candidate must be detail-oriented, well-organized, and a quick learner. Good grasp of Word and Excel required. Familiarity with HTML and cataloging preferred.

Pay Rate: $15/hour

Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week (typically four 5-hour days). Candidate must be flexible as the schedule can vary.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone just out of school (or about to finish school) who is looking to gain experience.
